6 Amazing Cafés To Work In

Working from home can get a little boring sometimes and drain your creativity after a while if you don't get any interaction to spark it. So, the best way is to get out of the house and take in your surroundings. If you are not the one who likes to take walks (which I recommend you do, ESPECIALLY if you are working from home and don't get as much exercise), there are many cafés in which you can work in and be around people who might give you any ideas for your next project.

Berlin has the best cafés for that and here are 5 that I personally enjoy visiting when I am, once again, in a writer's block.

1. Shakespeare & Sons

I am starting with my favourite café of all time because why the hell not.
This one is really nice because it is a café AND a bookstore. The sweet smell of coffee mixed with the musty smell of the books gives you that home-y feeling without actually being home. They sell the yummiest sweets (some of them are vegan, too!) and have a variety of bagels if you want to have a sense of what it feels like to live in New York City. You can also read the books without buying them if your budget doesn't allow you to but you still want to get a little literature in you.

Warning: All the books are in English.

2. Tischendorf

The "Friedelkiez" in Berlin is probably famous for all its hipsters and cafés in which they hang out with their macbooks.
But I still like to go there because the cafés are so nicely decorated that you feel to urge to adapt to your surroundings of working people. The café I visit the most is Tischendorf  because it is big and bright which makes you feel calm and focused and, well, because they have the best vegan chocolate cake in town probably. The coffee is served in china that your grandma had back in the days and there is always calm music playing in the background.

3. Kulturcafé

Only 10 metres away from Tischendorf is the Kulturcafé. It is especially known for the evening events, thus, during the day the café is almost empty. Nowadays, they have yoga lessons in the mornings, which is awesome to get out of the house early and after you are finished, you can start your work with a clear mind and probably are more motivated to get sh*t done! Usually, when I am there, I like to get the self-mixed teas and the indian speciality Laddu, which is a sweet made with chickpea flour and tastes incredibly delicious!

4. Schiller Deli

A year ago, when I was working in one of the busiest and most touristic quarters in Berlin, I was looking for any place to spend my break in a calm and relaxed environment. This wasn't possible between the franchise coffee shops and food courts until one of my friends showed me this place that was only a two-minute-walk from where I was working (which was a busy place) but still hidden from all the people that were in a hustle. A super cozy deli, with a few businessmen having their lunch here and there but almost always empty, with the nicest employees ever.
They serve Mo-Fr warm dishes but always have sweets and sandwiches ready.

5. Handbestand

This café, just like the first one, is also a bookstore - but with german books. But unlike the other this one is more 'hidden' or less visited but if it is then only by old people who want to drink cheap coffee or actual writers who want to get inspired by being out in public. It's is totally not the most aesthetic one out of the others but I still like to come here now and then but mostly in the summertime to sit outside and watch the people that are walking by.

6. Unicorn

This café is an actual coworking space for the ones that are probably self-employed but don't want to work from home. You can be a member of Unicorn and get 10% off of everything they have to offer for a monthly fee, they have rooms for meetings and private coworking spaces if you really aren't a fan of working with people in the room. They provide scanners and printers and also have community events where all the coworkers can connect and network! Also, the food is freshly made every day and so yummy.

And these are the cafés I mostly visit and actually enjoy being in. Hope you'll like them, too!
